Church Teams
The work of the church is conducted through teams
which utilize member's talents, energy, love and devotion to ensure that the needs of the church and the community are met. Everyone is invited and encouraged to come and serve the church as we work to further God's Kingdom here on earth. We encourage you to participate in our church's unlimited ministery team opportunities. These Teams and their activities are described below.
Building Team
Through the Building Team, College Grove United Methodist Church is preserving our tradition and planning for the future! For the last four years we have been dreaming about a new opportunity to serve our community for our Lord's work in 'The Grove.' The church voted in 2002 to hire an engineer for the purpose of developing a 3 phase building plan. Consequently, we have installed a new elevator with a drive-up concrete access. Construction on Phase I started January 30, 2006 and Phase II is nearing completion.
If you would like further information, or an update on this exciting project, go to our Construction Page or contact a member of the Building Team.

Evangelism Team
The primary task of the ministery work on the Evangelism Team is to ensure that our congregation reaches out to people with the good news of Jesus Christ and receives them into its care so that they may develop a relationship with God and live as Christian disciples. We work and visit people who have visited our church on Sundays. Visitor cards are collected from each service and and visits are made. The visits are brief and a packet of information about our church is left with the family and an invitation to visit our church again is extended. Follow-up visits are also made.We also plan an annual revival.
Our Team wishes to express an invitation to anyone desiring to help share the "Good News" of Christ with our vistors and local community. If you need further information, have any questions, or know of any newcomers in our community, please contact Pastor Tom .
Missions Team
We are blessed to have sent our very own John, Ana and John Isreal Lamon to Honduras! Please go to our Honduras page for the full story of our endeavors.
We support UMCOR with flood buckets, health kits, layette kits, school kits, sewing kits, etc. For a complete description of UMCOR kits and endeavors, click here.
In addition, we participate in the Shoebox Ministery which helps the homeless and working poor. If you know of anyone in our community that needs help, please contact Beverly Collins.
Nurture Team
The goals of this team are to care for the spiritual and physical needs of
our congregation and community. This is a very active and caring group and
we welcome anyone to join us. Some of our activities are:
Developed a new church directory.
Implemented a new Prayer Chain.
Prepare meals for the family and/or friends of deceased members.
Sponsor most Pot Luck dinners.
Prepare food for our Youth Groups on Sunday evenings.
Serve a light Sunday Brunch between early service and Sunday School.
Enlist Nursery Helpers for Sunday services.
Coordinate the Christmas Card Program for the congregation.
Prepare, print and mail the bi-monthly Church Newsletter.
Our church now has a new Prayer Chain. Several people have volunteered to pray for those in need. If an illness or
need arises during the week, the chain is begun with a phone call to a member and that person calls the next person on the list, etc., until the chain is complete. If you do not get an answer, skip to the next name on the list so our chain will not be broken. If you would like to be kept posted of needs or illnesses in our community so you may pray and would like your name added (or deleted) from the list, Please contact Georganne Martin.
If you have any questions about the Nurture Team, or are willing to join this busy group, contact Frances Morgan or Betty Lou Wilson.
